VetCert (Veteran Small Business Certification) stands as a pivotal gateway for veteran-owned small businesses aiming to secure federal contracts and access exclusive government resources. This certification not only validates your business’s veteran ownership but also opens a plethora of opportunities for growth and development.
Keep reading to uncover the ins and outs of the VetCert program and how it can serve as a cornerstone for your business’s success.
VetCert Program Overview
With the transition of the Veteran Small Business Certification process to the Small Business Administration (SBA) as of January 1, 2023, VetCert emerges as the streamlined avenue for veterans. This transition signifies a unified effort to support veteran entrepreneurs more efficiently.
If your business was previously certified through the VA’s Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE), you’ll be pleased to know that VetCert encompasses these certifications with an added extension, ensuring your business continues to benefit without interruption.

VetCert: Unlocking Business Growth
VetCert is more than just a certification; it’s a key to unlocking federal contracting opportunities specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs). This initiative aligns with the federal mandate that aims to allocate at least 3% of all federal contracting dollars to SDVOSBs annually.
Eligibility Criteria for VetCert
To partake in the VetCert program, businesses must adhere to specific criteria, including being registered as a small business on SAM.gov and maintaining at least 51% veteran ownership and control. For SDVOSBs, this ownership criterion extends to veterans with service-connected disabilities.
For those Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled and unable to manage the daily business operations of their business, their business may still qualify if their spouse or appointed permanent caregiver is assisting in that management.
