Lunch, Anyone?
Remember when the pandemic first hit? Everyone stopped going to lunch, meeting for coffee, and generally stepping out of their homes. Now, even though many are still working from home, I’ve noticed a shift. More people are eager to go out for lunch again, ready to re-engage with the world.
This is great news for you. As a lawyer, some of the best work you will receive comes from referrals. A recommendation from a trusted source can significantly ease the process of securing a new client, reducing the need for self-promotion.
Sometimes Simple is Best
While the internet remains a valuable tool for prospective clients to research you—through AdWords or other online presences—the most promising cases often come from personal referrals.
So, take the initiative. Pick up the phone, reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in years, and schedule a lunch. Reconnect and see how they’re doing. People are more likely to refer those they know, like, and trust—and it’s hard to build that trust without spending time together.
